Stretch Mark Remover A Fantasy Or Reality?

Many ladies who have given birth call their stretch marks badges of honor as well as those people who have gone through a huge weight loss to get to a healthy weight. In reality, all of these people wish that their stretch marks were gone and that there was a simple stretch mark remover readily available.

Stretch marks occur for a variety of reasons such as fast weight gain, pregnancy and extreme weight loss. The middle elastic layer of the skin called the dermis is responsible for your skin’s shape and it is this layer that is affected by some of the above reasons. Stretch marks start off as a purplish or red color and with time fade into a glossy patch of white or silvery skin. Many people wish for a stretch mark remover for those “badges of honor” along their tummy area, breasts, hips, lower back and upper arm areas.

By Way of the Laser

Perhaps one of the most successful stretch mark remover options is the laser. Laser surgery has become quite safe with low instances of side effects but there is still some pain associated with it. As a stretch mark remover, lasers are very effective and remove areas of old, stretched skin so that new, unblemished skin can grow in its place.

Traditional Surgical Stretch Mark Remover Methods

Plastic surgery is another effective option as a stretch mark remover but it is more drastic and more expensive than laser therapy. Just like with tummy tucks or face lifts, candidates have to be put under anesthesia while the affected skin is cut away and removed. Each area where stretch marks exist will have similar removal methods and the recuperation time from surgery could be weeks.

Non-surgical Options

Dermatologists specializing in cosmetic procedures find that blue light therapy, chemical peels, and micro dermabrasion have some success as a stretch mark remover. Candidates who do not relish the cost or idea of surgery or lasers often opt for these measures. There is some discomfort and precautionary measure to take afterwards and there are also no guarantees that these procedures are effective as a stretch mark remover.

Lotions, Creams and Diet

There are countless creams and lotions out on the market that tout themselves as a stretch mark remover. While many of them do fade the marks, they will never effectively remove them. After all, the middle layer of skin is affected and cannot be altered via more natural methods unlike the top layer of the dermis that always sheds to display newer skin. While these options are less expensive, don’t buy too many products hoping for a miracle. Diet can help with some of the lighter stretch marks with such additions as protein and zinc rich foods. Staying hydrated and avoiding caffeinated or alcohol beverages can keep the skin supple.

So while a stretch mark remover is definitely a reality, thanks to lasers and plastic surgery, these solutions are expensive and place them out of the realm of many people’s budgets. Natural solutions are a relative bust in the stretch mark remover category which leaves prevention as the only solution available that is attainable by all people.
